ResumeBuilder.com Survey Reveals 1 in 5 Remote Workers Have Two or More Full-Time Jobs

The study highlights workers with multiple jobs and leading factors contributing to their need for additional income. The research generated responses from 1,250 Americans who work full-time in a remote or hybrid environment.

Survey results indicate that 79 percent of remote employees work outside of their full-time job. Likewise, 48 percent work for another company full or part-time, and 39 percent are self-employed. Sixty-nine percent of respondents who work for another employer have one additional job, while 21 percent have two jobs. Additionally, 8 percent of workers have three jobs, and 2 percent have more than three jobs.

Research shows that professionals in the finance, sales, and software industries are more likely to work multiple jobs or have a side hustle. Although most self-employed respondents work as independent contractors, others generate income by owning small eCommerce or retail businesses and performing gig work. Thirty-seven percent of self-employed workers or those with a side hustle earn an additional $100,000 per year.

According to the report, 37 percent of respondents work multiple jobs because of inflation, and 36 percent want to pay off debt. Similarly, 44 percent of workers say they have more than one job because they want extra spending money, and 44 percent also say they want to increase their savings or investments.

Overall, 65 percent of respondents admit to doing outside work during the business hours of their primary full-time job. Thirty-eight percent of hybrid workers also say they steal company time to work for others. Although most respondents perform tasks for other employers during primary working hours, 91 percent say they are meeting expectations at work.

More than 70 percent of workers say its easy to manage multiple jobs, while 94 percent believe they are productive.
